3. What are the goals of Siemens Venture Capital? SVC has two primary goals: strategic and financial. First, SVC seeks leading edge technologies and systems that will make Siemens and its customers more competitive by expanding and improving the products and services that Siemens offers. Second, SVC invests in companies that have the most potential to realize sustainable profitability and success - inside Siemens or through a trade sale or IPO. Our goal is to generate substantial returns for all investors in Siemens Venture Capital. We achieve these goals by investing in start-ups with sound management teams and meaningful and scalable technologies. The Siemens partnership also is a significant part of our investment strategy and we work diligently to identify the right resources that Siemens can offer to help build our portfolio companies, including access to worldwide sales & marketing channels, R&D support, joint licensing and OEM contracts. |

Siemens Venture Capital was founded in 1999 and reorganized in 2001 when
the company consolidated all of its venture capital activities within its
business groups into one organization.
Today, SVC, led by President & CEO Dr. Ralf Schnell,
has invested some 800 million euros in well over 100 startup companies and
30 venture capital funds, mainly in the U.S., Europe and Israel, thus playing
a key role in the global network of innovation.
SVC is located in Germany (Munich), in the U.S. (Palo Alto, CA and Boston,
MA), in China (Beijing), in India (Mumbai), and is active through Siemens´
regional unit in Israel.
Siemens Venture Capital was already active in Israel since its inception.

| Revitalization of the VC market – now it is time to invest : According to IVC Research Center (www.ivc-online.com) in 2005, 378 high-tech Israeli companies raised $1.34 billion from local and foreign venture investors, an eight percent decrease from the $1.46 billion raised in 2004, but 32 percent above 2003 levels. But IVC believes that this is only a temporary decrease and projects a return to earlier levels in the coming quarters. The distribution in capital raised among sectors has not changed markedly
in the last four years. Thirty-three percent was raised by the Communications
sector ($469M), 20 percent by the Life Sciences ($284M), 19 percent
by Software, 11 percent by Semiconductors, four percent by the Internet
and 13 percent by other sectors. |
